A Boeing-led Australian industry team has presented the first unmanned Loyal Wingman aircraft to the Royal Australian Air Force, a historic milestone for the company and the Commonwealth. The aircraft, which uses artificial intelligence to extend the capabilities of manned and unmanned platforms, is the first to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years. Park Aerospace Corp. apprised of the introduction of its new E-752-MTS mid-toughened 350\u00b0F (177\u00b0C) cure epoxy system. E-752-MTS is Park\u2019s next generation 350\u00b0F cure epoxy system and the newest member of its E-752 product family. E-752-MTS is designed for primary and secondary aircraft structure applications, such as wing and empennage structures, control surfaces, fuselages and engine nacelles. To provide processing flexibility and access to a wider market, E-752-MTS can be cured using Autocl \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

Ascend\u2019s New Agreement for European Distribution of PA66 Resins<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ascend Performance Materials, the world\u2019s largest fully integrated producer of polyamide 66 resins, apprised of an agreement with thermoplastics distributor Resinex for the distribution of its Vydyne PA66 resins. Ascend\u2019s resins are used in the production of thousands of applications in the automotive, electrical and electronics, and consumer and industrial industries. NCC and Oxford Brookes Develop Rapid Heat Popping Joints<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

A revolutionary new technology developed by the National Composites Centre (NCC) and Oxford Brookes University means composite structures can now be separated (or disbonded) quickly and cheaply using a simple heat source. By making it easy to work with, repair and disassemble composite parts, this world-leading research could have a transformational impact on the design, use and end-of life recycling of wide range of products, including cars, aircraft and wind turbines. Owens Corning Reports Consolidated Net Sales of $1.6 Billion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Owens Corning reported consolidated net sales of $1.6 billion, a decrease of 4% or $66 million, compared with 2019. First-quarter 2020 net loss attributable to Owens Corning was $917 million, or $8.43 per diluted share, compared with net earnings attributable to Owens Corning of $44 million, or $0.40 per diluted share, in 2019. The company\u2019s 2020 results included non-cash pre-tax impairment charges related to the Insulation business of $987 million, driven by the recent decline in the company\u2019s \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

Covestro Meets Guidance for First Quarter Despite Coronavirus Impact<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Covestro has met its EBITDA guidance for the first quarter of 2020 in a business environment strongly impacted by the coronavirus. Core volumes decreased by 4.1% compared to the prior-year quarter. This is mainly the result of significantly weaker demand in China due to coronavirus-related interruptions of production at local customers in February and March 2020. Magna Bags 2020 PACE Award for Composite Space Frame Liftgate Reinforcement<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Magna\u2019s composite space frame liftgate reinforcement solution, which debuted on the Toyota Supra, has earned a 2020 Automotive News PACE Award. The award is Magna\u2019s fourth PACE Award in the last six years. The space frame is the first composite application of its kind for an automotive liftgate and achieves a 10 percent mass savings over a steel version. The composite space frame is a tubular frame made of a foam core that is then wound with continuous glass fiber and infused with a polyureth \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n
