Avcorp Industries Inc. has been awarded contracts by BAE Systems for the assembly of the F-35 Carrier Variant (CV) Outboard Wing. The total contract awards are approximately $87 million CAD. These contracts extend Avcorp\u2019 s current long-term contract with BAE Systems into 2022. The Avcorp Delta BC facility is the single source supplier for the F-35 CV-OBW assembly under contract with BAE Systems with delivery of the assemblies directly to Lockheed Martin in Ft Worth Texas. New IACMI Collaboration Aims to Develop Advanced Carbon Fiber for Hydrogen, Natural Gas Storage Tanks<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Composites Institute will receive $2.7 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop and validate technology that will reduce the cost of manufacturing high-performance carbon fiber by 25 percent to make composite natural gas or hydrogen fuel tanks to power cars and trucks. Hexcel Corporation informed that its Casa Grande (Arizona) site has been recognized with a Silver Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. The Hexcel team maintained a Silver composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from October 2018 to September 2019. This year, Boeing recognized 357 suppliers who achieved either a Gold or Silver level Boeing Performa \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

In Post-Pandemic, Dilutec Optimistic for Gelcoat Applications<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dilutec, one of the main Brazilian gelcoat manufacturers, is preparing for the new post-pandemic normal in the coming months. Dilutec is optimistic that the new post-pandemic normal will have new routines and protocols, which will bring some business opportunities. \u201cAgglomerations tend to be increasingly discouraged. Teijin Aramid informed that with the successful launch of NASA\u2019s Mars Perseverance Rover from Cape Canaveral in Florida, its Technora high-performance fiber is again enabling space exploration. The premium para-aramid Technora plays a critical role in the structure of the Rover\u2019s landing parachute, developed by Airborne Systems and NASA\u2019s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which will be deployed during descent to Mars in February 2021. The parachute system has proven it can support an inflation load of \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

ELG Carbon Fibre and Aerocircular N.V. Develop Closed-Loop Recycling Scheme for End-of-Life Aircraft<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

ELG Carbon Fibre and Aerocircular N.V, Ostend-Bruges, Belgium, join forces to establish a closed-loop recycling scheme for end-of-life aircraft CFRP waste streams. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to demonstrate their mutual commitment towards this initiative.
