Consortium for \u201cAeroFurnace\u201d Project Develops New Generation Thermal Insulation<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the joint project \u201cAeroFurnace\u201d funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the consortium, consisting of the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research e.V. (ZAE Bayern) as joint coordinator, the furnace manufacturer FCT Systeme, and SGL Carbon has succeeded in improving the thermal insulation properties of a new composite material by up to 120 percent compared to commercially available felt-based carbon materials. At China Composites Expo 2020, TFP will be introducing a new lightweight basalt veil in our Optiveil range, designed for high temperature performance in composites. The new basalt veil is part of TFP\u2019s OPTIVEIL range and has been developed as a more temperature stable alternative to TFP\u2019s standard E & ECR glass veils. Teijin Limited informed that thermoplastic materials made with its Tenax carbon fiber and Panlite polycarbonate alloy resin have been adopted for use in the world\u2019s first laptop-sized automated people mover (APM), the WALKCAR, developed by cocoa motors. Inc. The WALKCAR, which is small enough to be carried in a bag, measures just 21.5 cm by 34.6 cm, roughly the size of a 13-inch laptop computer, and weighs only 2.9 kg. The WALKCAR can travel about 7 km at a maximum speed of 16 km\/h on a single \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

A damaged, decades-old concrete bridge just off a narrow, curvy rural road in north central Tennessee\u2019s Morgan County will soon come down, and a low-cost, low-maintenance, technologically advanced composites bridge deck system with a 100-year lifespan will take its place. Avcorp Industries Inc. reported its financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2020. All amounts are in Canadian currency unless otherwise stated. 2020 Highlights Key financial results include: \u2022 Second quarter 2020 revenue was $32,246,000 compared to $46,799,000 in 2019. 2020 revenue decreased by $14,553,000 as a result of lower deliveries caused by lower customer requirements due to the novel Coronavirus (\u201cCOVID-19\u201d) and 737 MAX grounding. \u2022 Second quarter 2020 net loss was $1,59 \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

Hexion Inc. Reports 30% Decrease in Net Sales<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hexion Inc. released results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2020. Second Quarter 2020 Results In January 2020, Hexion updated its reportable segments to align around two growth platforms: Adhesives; and Coatings and Composites. The Adhesives Segment is organized around Construction Adhesives, Industrial Adhesives, and Intermediates and Derivatives, while the Coatings and Composites Segment is organized around Composites, Performance Coatings, and Base Chemicals. SGL Carbon\u2019s Composites Sales Revenue Declines<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the business unit CFM, the effects of the Corona pandemic were clearly visible only since the second quarter. From April to July 2020, sales declined by approximately 22 percent year-over-year and recurring EBIT turned slightly negative. Based on the half year period, sales in CFM declined by approximately 15 percent (currency adjusted: minus 16 percent) to 185.7 (previous year: 219.4) million euros. The largest percentage decline was recorded in the market segment Textile Fibers, where one a \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

Core Molding Technologies Reports Net Loss of $2.3 Million<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Core Molding Technologies, Inc. reported results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2020. The Company\u2019s results for the three months ended June 30, 2020 reflect the impact of COVID-19, which forced many of the Company\u2019s customers to suspend operations during the quarter. The Company had a net loss of $2.3 million in the second quarter of 2020 compared to net income of $0.2 million in the second quarter of 2019. Hexagon Composites ASA Declares Results for Second Quarter and First Half Year 2020<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the second quarter of 2020, Hexagon Group generated NOK 683 (882) million in revenues and recorded an operating profit before depreciation (EBITDA) of NOK 19 (62) million. Profitability was reduced by the impacts of the global pandemic and resulting macro factors, particularly in Agility Fuel Solutions and Hexagon Mobile Pipeline businesses. Boeing Recognized for Sustainability Leadership 2020<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Boeing received a 2020 Sustainability Leadership Award from the National Association of Manufacturers. The award recognizes the company\u2019s innovative efforts to recycle aerospace carbon fiber, diverting waste away from landfills across the globe. Since 2018, Boeing has partnered with UK-based ELG Carbon Fibre to recycle excess aerospace carbon fiber. Boeing collects the scrap material, which ELG then treats in a furnace to remove binding agents. The result of this process is clean material tha \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n
