Hydrogen will play an important role in energy transformation and future mobility – states AZL Partner INOMETA who develops high-pressure vessels for hydrogen storage.
The company explains that Thermoplastic pressure vessels (TPPV’s) are a promising alternative to state-of-the-art type 4 pressure vessels that suffer from some limitations such as refueling/emptying time, weight and volume, durability, life-cycle cost, and recyclability.
INOMETA has noted that the demand for these tanks has increased and will be raised even more, which makes recyclability more and more important for avoiding large amounts of composites to be disposed of. Therefore, ongoing research and development at INOMETA is aiming for proof-of-concept testing in 2022 and extending capabilities for pressure vessel winding.
