OUR PRESS STATEMENT REGARDING THE ANKARA PLAZA FIRE
PRESS RELEASE
This informational text has been written in response to recent statements by authorities regarding a fire that broke out in a plaza in Ankara, where they indicated that the fire originated from and spread due to composite materials.
Composite material is a synergistic material obtained by processing a reinforcing matrix material (such as polyester, epoxy, plastic, etc.) together with a reinforcing material (glass fiber, carbon fiber, aramid fiber, natural fibers, etc.). Composite materials are identified by the name of the matrix material (polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites, etc.) and
is mentioned.
The material in question in the plaza fire is an aluminum composite panel, which is not related to the composite definition given above.
Composite materials have a long service life due to their high strength, light weight, design flexibility, ability to maintain their shape and functionality, electrical insulation, corrosion and wear resistance, and non-flammable and flame-retardant properties. Instead of designing and then assembling many parts as is done with traditional materials, they can be molded in a single piece, and the desired color can be imparted to the product during molding, allowing for long-term use without maintenance. Regardless of the chosen molding method, the lower cost of the tools used for production and the more than 50,000 successful applications to date make them superior to steel.,
