Prize-winning competition for environmental projects.

The Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association (TURMEPA), founded in 1994 under the leadership of Rahmi M. Koç, with the initiative of the Chamber of Maritime Commerce and relevant stakeholders, announced the 2020 “Sabri Ülker Environmental Award” competition in collaboration with Yıldız Holding. The aim of the award competition is to promote and develop innovative, publicly participatory efforts in combating environmental pollution, aiming to leave a livable and healthy country for future generations, making significant contributions to sustainable development and the zero-waste principle, highlighting climate change and shedding light on possible measures, and ensuring the healthy aging of our planet, the common habitat of all living beings. The Sabri Ülker Environmental Award is established by the Yıldız Holding Board of Directors and the TURMEPA Board of Directors to recognize individuals and/or institutions that, without corporate backing, have materialized their ideas to a certain extent using their own resources, with the goal of protecting and improving our natural environment. This award is given to individuals and/or organizations whose projects are financially stalled during the research or implementation phase and who wish to advance their projects with the support of incentives that will inspire society. The theme of the 2020 project award competition is "Environment and Human." Information regarding suitable project topics within this theme can be found below. The project owner is expected to have completed their work as a final product or in a commercial format (a prototype or pilot study is sufficient). If the project has a social impact, the outcomes of the existing social situation must be concretely documented and reported using interview, survey, test, observation, or self-assessment mechanisms. Projects in the idea stage will not be considered. The same organization or individual may submit more than one project to the award competition.
