Amendments to the Additional Customs Duty Regulation

As previously announced, Presidential Decree No. 2424, published in the Official Gazette dated April 18, 2020, and numbered 31103, imposed additional customs duties on a group of products, including some plastic products registered under HS codes 3920, 3921, and 3926 (film, sheet, and other plastic goods groups). Since the aforementioned Decree did not include an exemption for goods already loaded and shipped to Türkiye before its publication date, we have taken steps with the relevant Ministries and our umbrella organizations to prevent potential hardship for the sector. As a result of the temporary article added under Article 5 of Presidential Decree No. 2485, published in the Official Gazette dated May 5, 2020, and numbered 31118, it has been decided that no additional customs duty will be applied to products loaded before April 18, 2020, and falling within the scope of the Decree.

Additional customs duties collected on goods that were loaded and imported into Türkiye before April 18, 2020, with a transport document issued for shipment, may be reclaimed in accordance with the relevant legislation.
