Climate Change Adaptation Grant Program
The announcement sent by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) is presented below.
“"Within the scope of the 'Strengthening Climate Change Adaptation Action in Türkiye Project,' funded by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union and implemented by our Ministry with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the 'Climate Change Adaptation Grant Programme' will be launched. The aim of the programme is to improve climate change adaptation in Türkiye; to increase the resilience of cities, to protect natural resources and ecosystems, and to increase the adaptation capacity of vulnerable economic sectors.".
Program kapsamında desteklenecek projeler için tahsis edilen toplam kaynak tutarı 6.800.000 Avro olup, projelere %50 – %90 aralığında hibe sağlanması planlanmaktadır.
Project durations are expected to be between 12 and 18 months, and participation in the Programme is open to civil society organizations, municipalities, local governments, universities or research institutions and centers, development agencies, and non-profit unions and cooperatives. The priorities of the grant call are: development of local climate action plans and strategies and/or preparation of decision-making tools (modeling, impact analysis); avoiding and reducing exposure to climate change-related risks (water scarcity, drought, forest fires, floods, extreme weather events); increasing the resilience of sectors affected by climate change and increasing adaptation knowledge and experience between organizations and cities in Turkey and/or the EU for the creation and/or implementation of innovative technologies and systems.
The program's call for proposals was made on October 14, 2020, and the deadline for applications is November 30, 2020. Information Days are planned to be held online on October 23-26-28-30 and November 2-4-6 to introduce the Grant Program and provide detailed information on preparing project proposals.
