900,000 New Job Opportunities
As offshore wind farms continue to be integrated into countries' electricity systems, it is projected that approximately 900,000 new jobs will be created globally.
According to information compiled from the second edition of the Global Offshore Wind Report, prepared by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), which provides a comprehensive global overview of the wind energy sector, obtaining 1 megawatt of capacity from offshore wind farms, which have an average lifespan of 25 years, requires 17 different full-time job categories.
Accordingly, it is planned that 51 gigawatts of offshore wind farms will be installed globally within the next 5 years, and 6.2 gigawatts of floating offshore wind farms will be integrated into the system within 10 years.
