Export exemption should be granted for waste import quotas.

While we share the environmental concerns behind the decision, we are opposed to such sweeping practices that affect the entire plastic recycling sector by focusing solely on examples of actions outside the law that cause environmental problems. Instead, we believe that more intensive monitoring activities will prevent environmental problems and avoid putting the sector in a difficult position.
However, as you know, we are going through a period of global economic change. Within this change, the recycling sector, in the context of the circular economy, is gaining importance day by day. In addition, this transformation brings with it a consumer profile with the necessary awareness; as today's consumption habits are rapidly changing, the demand for products made from recycled raw materials is also rapidly increasing. Therefore, the loss suffered by our industrialists who are forced to reduce their capacity also causes our country to lose strength, despite its sectoral potential, within this changing economic model.
In this context, we are continuing our efforts to prevent the creation of idle capacity in the plastics recycling sector and to ensure that our country does not fall behind in this transformation, which is accelerating worldwide. In order for the plastics recycling sector, which is critically important for achieving zero waste targets and contributes over $1 billion annually to our country's economy, to remain viable...We will continue to voice our demands to public authorities and umbrella organizations so that the amount of waste that companies process and transform into secondary raw materials and export is not included in this quota.
