First EPD Environmental Product Declaration for CTP Pipes

This work, which is significant as it is the first EPD published in Türkiye for GRP pipe products, is expected to support stakeholders, especially in sustainable supply processes.
The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study was conducted by Metsims Sustainability Consulting, Türkiye's leading company in sustainability and LCA, in accordance with EN 14025 and ISO 14040/44 standards, and the environmental performance of GRP pipes was described in an internationally accepted format. The EPD document, which also includes information such as company information, product description, and technical specifications, was prepared in accordance with the company's corporate identity, making it Türkiye's first and only local EPD System. Given their current demand in green building assessment systems such as LEED and BREEAM, EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) labels, also known as Type III environmental labels as defined in the ISO 14025 standard, are now a requirement for building materials. Environmental impacts obtained through scientific calculations in accordance with the ISO 14040 standard are recorded in these documents in compliance with the EN 15804 standard. EPD documents, one of the most successful tools for sustainability communication and required during exports to many European countries, particularly Northern European countries, are also supported by government incentives for export purposes.
