Identifying Priority Countries with Which Cooperation Can Be Established

A letter from the Ministry of Industry and Technology to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) states that the Industry and Technology Strategy document, prepared to achieve Turkey's 2023 industrial and technological goals, was published on September 18, 2019. (Attached)

The article further states that the goals set in the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy Document for our country to develop critical technologies domestically and to gain a share in value chains by offering competitive products and services in high-tech fields are grouped under five main components: “High Technology and Innovation”, “Digital Transformation and Industrialization”, “Entrepreneurship”, “Human Capital” and “Infrastructure”.

Establishing and supporting international collaborations is considered extremely important for achieving the goals aimed at within the framework of the strategy document. In this process, bilateral and multilateral international collaborations are evaluated as elements that will serve our country's industrial and technological policy. In particular, it is considered that strategic partnerships can be established with other countries in the implementation of some large-scale industrial and technological investments. Identifying advantageous sectors to attract international direct investment to our country is also among the important objectives.

In this context, in order to utilize the studies conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology to identify priority countries with which cooperation can be developed for the realization of the objectives of the Strategy Document;

– What are your views on the countries with which we can cooperate in the digital technologies identified as focus technologies in the document, such as 5G, super-performance computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, big data, and the Internet of Things, as well as biotechnology, nanotechnology and neuroscience technologies, cybersecurity, unmanned aerial vehicles, space technologies, agricultural technologies, and energy technologies?,

– What are your views on the countries with which cooperation can be established in the fields of strategic materials needed by the chemical and pharmaceutical, motor vehicles, marine vessels, rail systems, machinery, semiconductors, electrical and electronics, defense, aviation and space sectors, which have been identified as focus sectors?,

– Again, in line with the objectives of the strategy document, but within a framework different from these areas of cooperation, what are your views on countries with which bilateral cooperation could be developed?

The justifications, along with the application in Word format, must be submitted to the relevant Ministry by Mr. Mert Kuleoğlu of TOBB by August 6, 2020.mert.kuleoglu@tobb.org.trPlease send it to the address provided.
