Information Regarding Gekap Declaration Submission and Payments

In accordance with the Regulation on Recycling Participation Fee published in the Official Gazette dated 31/12/2019 and numbered 30995, the procedures for submitting declarations covering the first 6 months of 2020 will be carried out in accordance with the “General Circular on Recycling Participation Fee Declaration (Serial No: 1)” published by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

Article 4, paragraph 5 of the relevant Communiqué states that "The Recycling Participation Fee Declaration must be submitted electronically to the authorized tax office by 23:59 on the last day of the month following the declaration period in which the plastic bags were sold and, for other products, were placed on the market/imported.".

Accordingly, today, August 4, 2020, is the deadline for submitting tax returns and making GEKAP payments for the first six months (January-June). Those who have already submitted returns for January 2020 and February 2020 will not include these two months in their declarations for the first six months.

This situation covers all sectors and firms that are subject to GEKAP (Environmental Contribution Tax) and are in a position to place products on the market.
