Regulation on Recycling Participation Fee

On June 29, 2020, the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization made amendments to the "Procedures and Principles Regarding the Implementation of the Regulation on Recycling Participation Fee," and these amendments entered into force.

With the new regulation, a definition titled 'export' has been added to the definitions section of the aforementioned Procedures and Principles. Accordingly, the process of a product in free circulation in Türkiye leaving the Turkish customs territory will be considered as export;

It appears that in cases where exports are documented by businesses that procure packaged products and other products listed in Annex-1 of the law through supply channels and place them on the market, no recycling participation fee obligation will arise for suppliers and exporters.
