Award Competition in the Field of Smart Transportation

Applications are now open for the “ERTICO Start-up 2020” acceleration program, run by the “ERTICO – ITS Europe” network, which promotes research and collaboration in the field of Smart Transportation in Europe. Istanbul Okan University is a member of the ERTICO – ITS Europe network, which has 120 member institutions and organizations across Europe. The competition is aimed at startups developing smart solutions in Connected and Automated Driving, Clean Mobility, Transportation and Logistics, Urban Mobility, and Cross-Sectoral solutions (according to information received from Istanbul Okan University, there are no restrictions on the founding date, turnover, or ownership structure of the startups applying).

Awards

  • Five startups will be selected from among the applicants to participate in the ERTICO Think Tank event.
    • 1st Prize: The ERTICO Partnership elects a winner to represent Europe at the ITS World Congress in Los Angeles (4 to 8 October 2020) to compete in the Global Innovation Competition, a start-up competition hosted by ITS America, ERTICO, and ITS Asia-Pacific. A USand a global winner will be selected to receive:
      • $20,000 USD cash prize
      • a robust marketing package and extensive networking opportunities with leaders in the ITS industry
      • the opportunity to attend ITS Asia-Pacific, ERTICO, and ITS America Annual Meetings in 2021.
    • 2nd Prize: The ERTICO Partnership will elect 3 Start-ups to exhibit at next year's ITS World Congress in Hamburg, Germany (11 to 15 October 2021.)

Access to Stakeholder Networks

  • Meet potential investment Partners and customers within the ERTICO Network and in a trusted and well-connected environment
  • Create exposure and matchmaking opportunities with private and public stakeholders in the ERTICO membership
  • Liaise with established brands in the automotive and smart mobility sector

Competition process:

  • Application deadline: June 3, 2020
  • Auditions: June 4 – 29, 2020
  • Announcement of 5 finalists, including the startup representing Europe, to participate in the Think Tank event in Los Angeles (USA): June 30, 2020
  • Selection of 3 startups to participate in the 2021 ITS World Congress (Hamburg, Germany) at a Think Tank event: September 2020
