Priority Areas
Explanation
Subheadings
Support for Climate-Friendly Technologies
- The main objective of the Climate-Friendly Technologies Support is to encourage and support projects aimed at implementing domestic and innovative technologies for the use of climate-friendly, energy-efficient, reliable, and proven alternatives to reduce the use and emissions of gases with high global warming potential (GWP), such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), particularly those used in the refrigeration sector.
- Industrial companies can apply for Climate-Friendly Technologies Support for projects that include one or more of the topics listed on the right.
- In projects, the use of domestic technology and equipment, as well as the application of advanced technology (materials, electronics, software, etc.), are among TTGV's priorities, and the aim is to support applications with an innovative dimension.
Household Coolers
- Hydrocarbon (HC) refrigerants include isobutane (R-600a), propane (R-290), and R-441A, and are particularly more energy efficient and have a lower global warming potential than hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) gases. Appliances using these refrigerants are very efficient even at high ambient temperatures.
- Refrigerant alternatives for household refrigerators: Hydrocarbon (HC), Hydrofluoroolefin (HFO), R32 refrigerant gas, R32-HFO mixtures.
Commercial Type Coolers
- Worldwide, refrigeration equipment operating with hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide (CO2) is available for use in small shops and supermarkets. In central cooling systems in large supermarkets, carbon dioxide (CO2) cascade systems are an alternative to hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigeration systems. Hydrocarbon refrigerants have proven to be highly efficient alternatives in most applications at high ambient temperatures, except for larger condensing units.
- Refrigerant gas alternatives in commercial refrigeration systems: Hydrocarbon (HC), Hydrofluoroolefin (HFO), R32-HFO mixtures.
Industrial Chillers
- In industrial refrigeration, such as large cooling plants for food processing, ammonia systems have been used for many years.
- Refrigerant gas alternatives in industrial chillers: Hydrocarbon (HC), Ammonia (NH3), Hydrofluoroolefin (HFO), R32-HFO mixtures.
Fixed Ventilation Systems
- Hydrocarbons are safely used as alternative refrigerants in room air conditioning systems in many countries, such as India and China. For larger systems, pure R32 refrigerant gas with a medium-to-high global warming potential (GWP) can be used as an alternative. Hydrocarbons and ammonia are safe and energy-efficient alternatives to hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and hydrofluorochlorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants under medium and high ambient temperature conditions. Newly developed hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) are also used as alternatives in very large (centrifugal) chillers.
Mobile Ventilation Systems
- The refrigerant HFC-134a, used in car air conditioning systems until now, is being replaced in new car models in accordance with the European Directive on Mobile Air Conditioning Systems (MAC Directive). Alternative refrigerant options include carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant, called R1234yf, which has recently been introduced in some car models.
- Refrigerant gas alternatives in mobile ventilation systems: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Hydrocarbons (HC), Ammonia (NH3), Hydrofluoroolefins (HFO), R32 refrigerant gas, R32-HFO mixtures.
Foam Inflation Systems
- In polyurethane (PU) foam production, hydrocarbons such as pentane or cyclopentane are used as an alternative to hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) blowing agents without sacrificing energy efficiency.
- Major manufacturers of extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation boards have converted their production facilities to organic solvents, or HFOs. Hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) are emerging as an alternative in the remaining HFC-based systems. HFOs have higher energy efficiency compared to hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
Support for Clean Production Technologies
- The main objective of the Clean Production Technologies Support Program is to encourage and support projects aimed at developing, implementing, and commercializing technologically innovative, industrially applicable, and economically valuable clean production technologies and applications that minimize energy, water, and raw material consumption and waste generation in production processes, within the framework of resource efficiency (eco-efficiency/clean production/sustainable production).
- Clean production practices for manufacturing processes encompass conservation of raw materials, water, and energy throughout the production process; elimination of toxic and hazardous raw materials; and reduction of all emissions and waste in terms of quantity and toxicity at the source. These practices improve the environmental performance of the business, reduce production costs, and consequently increase its competitiveness.
- Industrial companies can apply for Clean Production Technologies Support for projects that include one or more of the topics listed on the right.
- Projects planned within this scope and focusing solely on energy are evaluated under the heading of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other energy technology support.
- In projects, the use of domestic technology and equipment, as well as the application of advanced technology (materials, electronics, software, etc.), are among TTGV's priorities, and the aim is to support applications with an innovative dimension.

Producing new products from waste.
- Applications involving the production of new products, raw materials, or fuels from waste generated in industrial, agricultural, forestry, etc., activities in an existing production facility, or the establishment of a new production line in the existing facility or the improvement of the existing facility/system to utilize waste as a production input.
- If the waste that is the subject of the project is a natural waste defined as renewable (e.g., animal manure), then the production of "electrical energy" from this waste is not included in this scope.
Support for Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Other Energy Technologies
- The Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, and Other Energy Technologies Support Program was established to help Türkiye maintain its competitiveness in the face of rising global energy prices, particularly in energy-intensive sectors, to contribute to reducing external dependence and greenhouse gas emissions, and to encourage industrialists' activities in this field.
