EU imposes new trade defense measures on Chinese glass fiber.

EU imposes new trade defense measures on Chinese glass fiber.

The European Union has revised its anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures applied to fiberglass products imported from China. According to the European Commission's decision, the tariffs have been increased.

Industry representative Glass Fibre Europe welcomes the decision. The organization emphasizes that the intensive predatory practices of Chinese state-owned companies are harming the European industry, and that this revision is necessary to protect the sector.

It is also noted that glass fibers from production facilities in Bahrain, Egypt, and Thailand, which are not of Chinese origin but are operated by Chinese state-controlled companies, are also under scrutiny. Glass Fibre Europe states that it is essential that products from these sources also be subject to regulation.

Fiberglass is a strategic raw material used in many critical areas such as construction, transportation, renewable energy, defense, and infrastructure. This decision aims to both protect the European internal industry and re-establish a fair competitive environment.
