Developing Trade Between Türkiye and Venezuela

According to the letter dated 09.09.2020 and numbered 00057244353 received from the Ministry of Trade, the Trade Development Agreement signed between our country and Venezuela on May 17, 2018, and whose internal approval process has been completed by both countries, entered into force on August 21, 2020. The letter states that the agreement aims to increase access to the Latin American market for our country's main export products, expand the range of export products, and provide enhanced preferential access to the region's rich resources for the current and potential raw material needs of our country's manufacturing industry.

On the other hand, sanctions were initiated against Venezuela by the US with Presidential Executive Order No. 13692 dated March 8, 2015, and subsequently, the scope of these sanctions was expanded to include individuals, institutions, and products through various Presidential Executive Orders issued between 2017 and 2019. In this context, since US sanctions are known to be applied overseas, it is advisable for our relevant companies to thoroughly research their counterparts, to be aware of the status of the products they export when contacting importers, and to work with banks familiar with these matters.

I would appreciate your information.
